Description

Puesta del Sol is located in the shores of the lake Cocibolca, in the community of La Paloma. It is a community partnership leaded by women. Their main purpose is to conserve the Ometepe Island and contribute with the tourism development as a community. Lodging, tours, meals and other activities are offered.

Visitors will feel the welcomeness of locals and will interact with Nicaraguan families to practice Spanish and contribute with the sustainable development of the community. Five percent of the incomes are given to community works.

Lodging service is offered in the house of local families. Each visitor is assigned to a family and is treated like one of them. All rooms can accommodate from 1 to 3 people and are equipped with fan, musketeer and furnitures to place personal items or clothes.

Besides of having fun at the lake and watch beautiful sunsets, visitors can learn about the sales and productions of the association such as: Jamaica (flower) wine, tea of medicinal plants and other common crops of the area.

The association has a Communitary Center on the shore of the lake. It works as a operation center for volunteers groups or as a coffee place to have a good time and drink shakes, mojitos or buy fast food.

Food is arranged with each family, however it can be organized in the community center for those groups who prefer food prepared by the families of the association.

To keep knowing more about the island, tourists can plan a trip with the help of the assignated family or rent bikes, motorcycles, kayaks, horses or other type of transport. Guests will also have the needed contacts to organize tours to the volcanoes and other tourist destinations of the island, or enjoy the local "wine tour".
