Description

La Sombra Ecolodge is a mountain hotel located inside the natural reserve of the same name. The reserve is part of the biological corridor, situated right in front of the Peñas Blancas Massif, which is buffer zone for the BOSAWAS biological reserve. This place atmosphere is given by the wild nature and the countryside production. You will find here cool mountain climate and several activities and places to enjoy your stay. Lodging service is here offered in 19 rooms where comfort mix with nice rustic finishes. Occupation could be double, triple or quadruple, in suites, cabins or the rooms located in the main building. All room has private bathroom and hot water. Private or shared balconies and terrace have great views on the mountains around.

Inside the hotel area there is a pool, a frog nursery, a butterfly farm and a silkworms nursery. Further on there is a canopy circuit and “El Eden” waterfall, ideal for a swim on the forest.

Here you will be in the middle of a reserve. A three trails circuits of 4,300 meters allow visitors to visit the natural places, as well as the production points, where to find fields of coffee, cacao, strawberry, blackberry, raspberry and banana. La Sombra is part of the Private Wildlife Reserve Network of Nicaragua, and the Wildlife Reserve Networks of Latin America Alliance.

How to get

On private transportation: go to Matagalpa city, from where you will take the road to El Tuma – La Dalia for (44.7 km. Pass La Dalia town and continue through the paved road to Waslala for 3.5 km, until hacienda La Estrella (sign on the road). Here you will turn left and continue for 4.2 km to La Sombra Ecolodge.

On public transportation: you must reach Matagalpa, and take a bus to La Dalia (around $2 per people) in COTRAN Norte terminal. Once in La Dalia, go down and tale a taxi to La Sombra Ecolodge (around US$5).
