Diriá

This small municipality is located at the summit, slopes and surroundings of the Apoyo Lagoon Natural Reserve. Its urban center, which is enclosed by nine villafes, has antique houses, an old church, a central park and a nice viewpoint with a panoramic scenery of the Apoyo Lagoon. San Sebastian is the patron saint of the municipality, which celebrates its religious festivities in his honor from January 19th to 21st.

Getting There

The city of Diria is located 64 kilometers from Managua. There are frequent daily buses at the Roberto Huembes Market (Managua). It will be necessary to ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance of Diria, and then you will have to walk for a short time to get to the center of the city.

When traveling in private transportation, you must take the 'Carretera a Masaya' and turn right when you reach the 'Las Flores' roundabout, located between Masaya and Granada. After passing the towns of Catarina and San Juan de Oriente, you will see the entrance to the municipality on the left.

You can also take a cab in Catarina and San Juan de Oriente and ask the driver to take you to Diria.
