Arts, culture and tradition of Los Pueblos Blancos
Description
The tour starts at the Catarina Overview, where our guide will explain to participants about nature, culture and tradition of Los Pueblos Blancos and the incredible diversity of the Apoyo Lagoon.
Then you will move up to a workshop on bamboo in Catarina, where you will have the opportunity to learn from local artisans the bamboo management for handicrafts use. Everyone will have the opportunity to make their own bamboo product (small samples) twith support of local artisans.
The next stop is in the village of Niquinohomo; birthplace of Sandino, where the group will attend the production of traditional rosquetes (nicaraguan cookies) made with the same formula for many decades. In the candy workshop, the group will have the opportunity to try the products and participate in the process of preparing the traditional sweet candies.
Finally, the group will move to San Juan de Oriente, where thry will visit a workshop of artisans who make products with mud. You will get first hand knoledge in the production process of this art and you will be able to experience the work of the artisan through two activities: First you can play with clay to create the shape of the figure and then you can let your imagination run free with paintings in traditional colors some pieces previously made by the same craftsmen. At the end of the activity you may bring a small souvenir of remembrance.
Throughout the tour, you will appreciate all the gardens and nurseries that are between one people and another.
Back in Catarina you could taste delicious lunch or dinner.
