Description
Ruta Maya is a well-known restaurant for two reasons: its excellent food, and the cultural and musical presentations by national and international artists. Many different types of musicians and artists, both from Nicaragua and from other countries, have performed here over the years (Ruta Maya is already hosting shows and presentations since 1993).
As a restaurant, Ruta Maya offers a wide variety of not only typical Nicaraguan food but also international dishes as well as typical food from other Central American countries and Mexico. The specialties of the house are the famous grilled meat plates (beef, pork, chicken, and seafood). The restaurant also offers a lunch buffet on weekdays from noon until 2PM.
As a cultural center, the place has been and still is being visited by famous national musicians. From time to time international artists visiting Nicaragua also perform here. Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night the restaurant offers a concert or a show. To learn more about the calendar for this week, visit our Events Calendar.
The restaurant offers a friendly, comfortable, and also open place due to the fact that the seating area is located below a huge rancho without sidewalls. Another interesting aspect is that a huge tree in the middle of the restaurant penetrates the roof.
Ruta Maya is also available for private events. Its ample rancho has a capacity of 500 people, and a closed, air-conditioned salon has a capacity of 50 people.
