Coffee Tour in Altos de Ocotal
Description
The meeting point is at the guest house where the tourist is staying or at Los Cedros (communal center). From here, the tour begins with a horseback riding through the mountains and coffee plantations. On the road different species of trees can be seen, such as: cedars, elephant ear trees, pines or banana plantations. As well, the area is inhabited by wild animals like guatuzo, sahinos and birds.
Once the tourist gets to Finca La Aparecida, will be able to observe the coffee process: first, the selection of the seeds, then the transfer of the pulp to the bag and all the process that takes to have good coffee seeds. As a demonstration, the tourist can take a small plant of coffee, ready to be sowed.
After the practical demonstration, the tourist will receive an explanation about the cut of the grains, the removal of the pulp and the coffee drying process. As well, the threshed process will be also detailed to later continue with the toasting process at Las Minitas community. At the end of the tour, each client will receive a sample to taste the coffee.
During the return to the rancho of the cooperative the tourist will be able to observe animals and fruit trees. Also, the Ojo de Agua will be visited.
Food can be order for only US$3.50 per person.

General Conditions Los Altos de Ocotal
Cancellation Without Penalty:
Cancellations made at leats 72 hours prior to tour day will not incur in any penalties.
Cancellation Penalties:
Cancellations made with less than 72 hours prior to tour day will be charged 50% of the total reservation amount. In case of no-use of the reserved service, 80% of the total reservation amount will be charged. These amounts will be additionals to the 10% reservation (no refundable) already payed to assure the booking.
