The Cacao route
Description
A dry forest with tropical birds and other animals, plus a small plantation absorbed by nature, and a source of groundwater can be seen on this tour. Participants and hosts are at the communal house where begins the walking tour.
The first stop is in front of an ancient tree where you can observe bird's nest, then you will descend to Ochomogo river reaching a water spring called "El Cacao", where there are the remains of a plantations of cocoa. The history of this land as a place where cocoa was grown for export is explained. If it's the cocoa season, you will know this wonderful fruit.
The tour continues to the water fountain, where the water comes out and is consumed by the community. During the walk different birds and butterflies like the owl and morph can be observed. You can also find howler monkeys.
After this, you will go all the way back to the area where the families of the community grown cassava, maize and beans. The tour finish when you go back and return to the communal house.
As an extra you can buy a snack US$2 or lunch US$6.
Recommendations
- Wear pants, hat, insect repellent, sunscreen, water and comfortable shoes. If it's winter, it is recommended to wear rubber boots.

Cancellation Without Penalty:
Cancellations made at leats 48 hours prior to tour day will not incur in any penalties.
Cancellation Penalties:
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours prior to tour day will be charged 50% of the total reservation amount. In case of no-use of the reserved service, 50% of the total reservation amount will be charged. These amounts will be additionals to the 10% reservation (no refundable) already payed to assure the booking.
