The Islets and Zapatera Island tour from Granada

Description

This is a nature and culture tour among two archipelagos: the islets and Zapatera. We will appreciate the surrounding, visit two archaeological places, trek in a hill and, finally, enjoy a lunch in one of the islets.

In the morning, we will pick you up in your hotel or a (previously arranged) meeting point in Granada city. We will go to the lake shore, to the small piers in the Touristic Center. There we will take the boat and start our tour traveling on the Asese peninsula among the islets, watching the aquatic birds, the forested little islands and the vacation or family houses on the most of them. Then, we will travel in open lake waters to the Zapatera archipelago.

In Zapatera, we will start our visit en the small El Muerto island, where we will appreciate several pre-columbian petroglyph in rocks of several sizes. After that, we will take the boat and go to the big Zapatera island, landing in the Sonzapote pier. The rural community will receive us there, and show us their handicraft work in a small rustic shop next to the pier. Next we will traverse a trail among archaeological vestige. After that, we could trek in the small Las Banderas hill, which is behind the community.

Back in the boat, we will return to the islets, and make a stop in one of them, where to have lunch in a restaurant (it could be Correviento or Ron Island restaurants), right in front of the lake water. A varied menu will be available, as well as a drink (a juice, a soda or a beer). Finally, after lunch and an island rest, we will go back to mainland, and then to your hotel or the drop off point in Granada.
