Description

The Union of Guides in Ometepe (UGO in Spanish – Unión de Guías de Ometepe), offers the opportunity to learn with locals about Ometepe Island. This project was founded by a group of young people. They realized that Ometepe had tourist potential and start to offer informal tours, to later get organized and begin formally with their services.

UGO is composed by 20 local guides. Each one is trained and certified in fauna, flora, archeology and vulcanology of Ometepe. Nowadays, 10 members are volunteer rangers of MARENA. This organization is known as a professional, responsible and secure cooperative.

This Union is the only cooperative of professional guides that exists in Ometepe, under the acronyms COSETUGO R.L. and its legal entity.
