More than 100 artists will present “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff in Rubén Darío National Theater.

The Embassy of Germany and Rubén Darío National Theater invite you to discover the impressive staging of the famous German piece “Carmina Burana” this Wednesday, October 28th at 7:30pm in the Sala Mayor of Rubén Darío National Theater in Managua.
After 2 months of intensive rehearsals, Nicaraguan youths from the Schola Cantorum Rubén Darío and the Orquestra Sinfónica Juvenil Rubén Darío, together with the musicians from the Camerata Bach, are ready to present their interpretation of “Carmina Burana”, piece originally written in the XIIIth century and made famous by Carl Orff in 1935.

With the presence of approximately 70 choristers and 60 musicians on stage, this representation will be magnificent. Ramón Rodríguez, Director of Rubén Darío National Theater, explained that “Carmina Burana” is a particularly difficult piece of symphonic music repertoire. It truly was a huge challenge for the 200 persons involved in the preparation of this event, for artists as well as the technical team, but it shows that now Nicaragua has a high quality National Symphonic Orchestra.

We need to mention that this representation is the result of a close artistic collaboration of Centro America. In fact, both the music director, Oreste Saavedra, and the percussionists’ leader, Luis Antonio Barrera, are Cubans, and apart from them, 15 youths were invited to participate to this event from Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Honduras.
This ambitious project allowed 14 to 28-years-old youths to work hand in hand with well-known professionals such as the Cuban guests, the members of the Camerata Bach, and the lyric soloists Elliete Martínez, José Luis Leytón and Mario Rocha, between others. This amazing opportunity was a way to stimulate those young Nicaraguan and motivate them to keep improving in their art.

There will be two representations of the show:
- On October, 28th at 7:30pm in the Sala Mayor of Rubén Dario National Theater in Managua, with a cost of C$150 to C$250 per person, to be bought directly in the ticket office of the Theater.
- On October, 30th in the Cultural Center “Convento San Francisco” in Granada.

This event is sponsored by Claro but most of all by the Embassy of Germany, which also supports the Theater with a project on energy efficiency in order to diminish their expenses and reduce their environmental impacts. To prove its commitment to the development of Culture in Nicaragua, the Embassy of Germany will invite all public to a “German style toast” at the end of the representation, with beer, bretzel and sausages.
