Los Guanacastes trail is located in the buffer zone of Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve, on San Jose farm. It has a pleasant, fresh and natura ambiancel. In this area you can see coffee plantations and animals such as howler monkeys, birds of different species such as the mockingbird, quail, oriole and others. This is their unique natural habitat around the Mombacho Volcano. There are birds singing all around, for example: the Toledo, the only native bird native of the area.
It is called the Guanacaste trail because it is full of legendary guanacaste trees, with over 100 years of existence. They are also accompanied by a variety of hardwood trees like guachipilín, panama and chilamate. There are also medicinal plants like guácimo and others, historically used to cleanse different organs and pains. There are other trees like the rubber tree for making boots, adhesives and other materials. These trees are also home to various species of birds and other animals such as howler monkeys.
On the way back, you can see some animals like squirrels, foxes and parakeets. There are also many species of orchids. Visitors will have access to eat some fruits such as sapodilla, avocado, papaya, among others.
For finidhing the tour, you will return to the ranch farm where you can buy food.

La Uva trail and La Ceiba viewpoint

This experience allows you to walk among the woodlands and cultivated areas, see rural life and breathtaking views of different attractions in Masaya appreciable from the slopes of Mombacho Volcano.
The entry is at the second door from San José farm and here starts La Uva trail where you can see hardwood trees like cedar, guácimo molinillo (type of tree), oak, and other timber species; giant chilamates and medicinal trees such as cinchona among coffee bushes. There is a pleasant tropical climate and temperature about 25°C (77ºF). You will in contact and harmony with nature. In a short walk you will reach La Ceiba Viewpoint, where you can see panoramic views that dominates Los Pueblos Plateau, Apoyo Lagoon, Masaya Volcano, the tower of Masaya stadium and Catarina viewpoint.
During the tour you can see the tallest trees in the property, and "La Ceiba" (ceibo tree) about three hundred years of existence with an elevation between 30 and 40 meters high. Within this path deer, howler monkeys, toucans and birds like orioles and other species can be seen.
Continuing along this trail you will find a giant stone, a place surrounded by bushes and large rocks. Then you will get through the ruins of the farm, where the tour ends while you take a break to go back to the gate of San José farm.
Food is offered as an extra service in the restaurant "El Encanto del Mombacho".

El Nancite trail and Loma Redonda Viewpoint

The tour starts at the ranch in San Jose farm moving in a vehicle to the second entry gate to the ruins of the old property. There the story begins hiking to Nancite trail and Loma Redonda Viewpoint.
On the trail you can enjoy a cool and pleasant climate. You can see giant forest trees, variety of plants (such as different types of orchids) and a diverse fauna such as ocelot, pacas, white-tailed fox, anteater and others. You will see panoramic views of Apoyo Lagoon, Los Pueblos Blancos plateau, the city of Nandaime and mountains.
The predominant trees are nancite, guácimo, timber and medicinal plants. There is also the special nancite and quebracho tree, whose shell is used for harness (leather tanning process). You can find fruits like breadfruit, mamey, sapodilla, mangos, bananas and others.

Horseback Riding to the Mombacho Volcano

Hiking to the Mombacho Crater

Day 1:
Tourist will be picked up at the stipulated meeting point in León or Managua to later take the minibus and go toward the Cosigüina Volcano. The ascent to the summit will begin. Once at the top, the Lagoon, the Fonseca Gulf and even territory from Honduras and El Salvador can be seen. To end the first day, the tour will continue to the base of the San Cristóbal Volcano, where you will sleep.Day 2:
At 6 AM, the ascent to the San Cristóbal Volcano begins. This is an active volcano and is the highest (1745 masl) in Nicaragua. This is one of the most difficult volcanoes to climb.After the descent, the trip to the Telica Volcano begins. You will camp at the volcano crater.
